Route 66 Tour to the “End of the Trail” with Local Guide Johnathon
With Included Lunch at Barney’s Beanery & Milkshake at Mel’s Drive-In
Activity Level
Marking the spectacular 2026 Centennial of America’s most legendary highway, this new and final installment of our Route 66 series celebrates the final stretch of the iconic “Main Street of America.” Our beloved, professional local guide, Johnathon, will provide insightful narration and charming anecdotes as we take a nostalgic journey down memory lane, revisiting a century of history along a road that has captured the spirit of adventure, freedom, and the American dream for 100 years. In Pasadena, we’ll “cruise” along the vibrant Colorado Boulevard corridor and stop to admire the breathtaking 1913 Beaux-Arts arches of the Colorado Street Bridge – a soaring span over the Arroyo Seco that carried the original alignment of Route 66 until 1940. We’ll continue into Downtown Los Angeles to visit the historic intersection of 7th Street and Broadway, the highway’s original western terminus until 1936. We’ll trace Santa Monica Boulevard past the legendary music and roadhouse hubs of West Hollywood before enjoying an included lunch with your choice of entrée at Barney's Beanery. Established in 1920, this classic Route 66 roadhouse is packed with historic memorabilia, colorful character, and star-studded stories. Continuing west through Beverly Hills, we’ll pass manicured, palm-lined avenues and the historic Beverly Gardens Park sign. As we make our final drive down Ocean Avenue into Santa Monica, we’ll “get our licks on Route 66” while enjoying an included milkshake at Mel’s Drive-In. This legendary roadside landmark and spectacular monument to mid-century American car culture serves as the perfect historic dining stop near the true terminus of Route 66. Be sure to check out the custom Route 66 mosaic at the entrance and the vibrant parking lot mural celebrating the highway’s legacy. Our journey ends at the world-famous Santa Monica Pier, the official and historic "End of the Trail" for Route 66. Snap a photo beside the iconic end-of-the-road sign, take in panoramic ocean views, feel the cool Pacific breeze, and admire the solar-powered Ferris wheel. This tour involves moderate walking. All sights are subject to change.
To ensure a healthy and enjoyable travel experience for our guests, this tour will operate with additional health & wellness measures in place.
