A Guided Tour of Frank’s Hangouts
He sang about Chicago and New York, but Frank Sinatra called Palm Springs “home” for more than 50 years! On this comprehensive, narrated driving tour we’ll follow in the footsteps of ‘The Chairman of the Board” and his Rat Pack buddies through Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage and Palm Desert to see where he lived, loved, partied and was laid to rest. Sinatra’s legendary status will come alive as a professional Palm Springs local guide entertains us with stories almost too fascinating to believe. Visit “The Movie Colony” to see the exterior of Sinatra’s mid-century modern home, "Twin Palms," his legendary estate which became “party central” in the 1950s. This tranquil neighborhood was home to some of Hollywood’s biggest stars such as Cary Grant, Dinah Shore, Tony Curtis, Gloria Swanson and Jack Benny. See where Sinatra prayed at St. Louis Catholic Church – it’s known as the “The House the Dolly Built” because of the many donations made by Sinatra’s mother. We continue to Rancho Mirage to see the exterior of “The Compound,” the 2 ½ acre estate that sits along the 17th fairway of the Tamarisk Country Club. Visit the city park where, believe it or not, you will hear Sinatra describe the park and surrounding mountains he so dearly loved. Finally, we’ll visit Desert Memorial Park to pay our respects at ‘Ol’ Blue Eyes’ final resting place. Enjoy time at leisure for lunch on your own and browsing in downtown Palm Springs. Featuring a newly redesigned downtown plaza, these four blocks offer something for everyone to enjoy – from fine foods, casual dining and ice cream shops to one-of-a-kind stores, upscale boutiques and galleries to small mom-and-pop shops, it’s all available here! No visit to the Coachella Valley is complete without a stop at Hadley Fruit Orchards. Founded in 1931, this southern California landmark has provided a friendly place to shop for premium quality Medjool dates, dried fruit, nuts, hand-mixed trail mixes, honey, preserves, freshly-ground peanut butter and a variety of gifts. At the snack bar is where you’ll find their famous date shakes!
