This new “love affair” experience begins with an included, delicious Valentine’s-themed tea lunch in the South Bay at the newest Chado Tea Room. Known for sourcing teas and herbs from all over the world, Chado has not only defined the tea scene in Los Angeles for more than 30 years but has served as a role model in America’s recent tea renaissance. We’ll enjoy a traditional, English-style early afternoon tea lunch (approximately 11:00 a.m.) featuring a 3-tiered stand with a variety of tea sandwiches, a freshly made scone with cream and jam and decadent petite desserts, accompanied by a selection of freshly brewed, loose-leaf teas. This afternoon we’ll visit the Grier Musser Museum, housed in an historic Queen Anne house in L.A.’s Bonnie Brae neighborhood. Featured on Visiting with Huell Howser, this hidden gem of a house features intricate woodwork, Victorian-era furnishings and an incredible collection of antiques and heirlooms. This time of year, the house is decorated for their annual “Valentine’s Day Meets Victorian Era” celebration with hundreds of teddy bears, Kewpie Dolls collections and vintage Valentines and love-themed items from the late 1890 to the present. At the Grammy Museum we’ll celebrate the life and legacy of Luther Vandross – the eight-time Grammy winner, revered songwriter, and one of the most talented vocalists in music history! On view for a limited time, Luther Vandross: Artistry and Elegance spotlights Vandross’ captivating career beginning as a backup singer for Roberta Flack, Chaka Khan, Bette Midler, and Carly Simon in the 1970s. He rose to fame in the 1980s as a solo artist renowned for his relatable lyrics about love and released 11 consecutive platinum records, sold over 40 million albums and charted a Top 10 R&B hit every year from 1981 to 1994! See exclusive performance footage, hand-beaded suits he wore onstage, handwritten lyrics and six of his Grammy Awards. Enjoy time at leisure to browse the museum’s permanent exhibits which pay tribute to music’s rich cultural history with four floors of cutting-edge exhibits and interactive experiences including memorabilia from Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Michael Jackson and others.
