Join us on this fun and nostalgic journey as we explore places that shaped the incredible life of Walt Disney, a creative genius beloved by children and adults alike. During his legendary lifetime this amusement park and film pioneer was honored with 32 Academy Awards for his extraordinary film achievements – more than any other person! We begin at the Stanley Ranch Museum, where some of Orange County’s oldest homes and businesses have been preserved. Here, nestled among buildings from the late 1800s and early 1900s we’ll find Walt Disney’s very first studio inside a humble garage. Relocated here from its original site in North Hollywood, “Uncle Robert’s Garage” was where Walt created his first animated short film after he arrived in California in 1923. We'll continue to Glendale and enjoy an included three-course lunch with choice of entrée (prime rib, chicken, salmon or vegan) at the historic Tam O'Shanter Inn. Located just a few miles from Disney Studios, this charming replica of a Scottish inn was one of Walt Disney's favorite places to eat. In fact, he was such a regular that it was often called the "studio commissary." This afternoon, we'll visit Walt Disney's Carolwood Barn, a truly special place that's only open one day each month. This barn is a living tribute to Walt's passion for railroading, a hobby he started in 1950 by building a miniature railroad in the backyard of his Holmby Hills home. The Carolwood Pacific Railroad – named after the street he lived on – featured 2,615 feet of track, a 46-foot trestle, and even a 90-foot tunnel beneath his wife's flower bed. Walt built the barn as a workshop and a place to relax with friends while he remotely controlled the track switches. Before the home was sold, Walt's daughter had the barn carefully dismantled and donated it to Griffith Park so it could be shared with his fans. Today, the barn sits inside a 1/8th-scale track, just like the one Walt had, and is filled with trains of all sizes. A journey through Walt’s life wouldn’t feel complete without paying our respects at his final resting place, at the beautiful Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale. Marvel at fun “Disney” stories and anecdotes during this nostalgic and celebrity-themed adventure that is led by our tour director, Jasmin, a former actress and Old Hollywood aficionado, who also leads our tribute tours to Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball and Frank Sinatra.
To ensure a healthy and enjoyable travel experience for our guests, this tour will operate with additional health & wellness measures in place.
