Welcome to America’s, if not the world’s, most exciting metropolis – New York, New York – a city so great they named it twice! This tour features a four-night stay at an upscale Times Square hotel and includes the best of New York City’s sights, sounds and tastes. Explore the various Manhattan neighborhoods and sites with a local guide, ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, ride the subway and see a hit Broadway musical of your choice! It’s the perfect tour for those venturing to New York City for the first time, repeat visitors and even native New Yorkers.
Optional transfers from our departure points will have us at the Los Angeles International Airport for a scheduled nonstop flight arriving in Newark, New Jersey this afternoon. Those guests making their own flight arrangements can request the group’s flight schedule to coordinate a flight arrival time that would allow them to be included on the complimentary transfer to the hotel. Upon arrival, we’ll board a deluxe motorcoach and continue to Midtown Manhattan where we’ll enjoy a four-night, single-hotel stay at a stately and elegant hotel situated on 7th Avenue between 52nd and 53rd streets, just a short walk from Central Park, the Theatre District, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue and many of Manhattan’s greatest sights. Enjoy the balance of the evening at leisure.
This morning we’ll depart the hotel with a local guide onboard the motorcoach. We’ll tour inside St. Patrick’s Cathedral, renowned for its titanic bronze doors, gorgeous high altar, and rich Neo-Gothic architecture, including thousands of stained glass windows. We’ll walk through Rockefeller Center, the National Historic Landmark made up of 14 limestone buildings and a gleaming example of art integrating with architecture . We’ll enjoy an included brunch at the renowned Tavern on the Green, a true New York City icon. A modern tavern nestled in a bucolic Central Park setting, the restaurant captures the spirit of Central Park and the energy of New York City. Originally designed by Calvert Vaux and built in 1870 to house the sheep that grazed in Central Park’s Sheep Meadow, Tavern on the Green has proudly served locals, presidents, royalty, artists and actors since 1934. This afternoon we’ll enjoy a guided stroll through Central Park to see the Bethesda Fountain and Strawberry Fields – the tribute to John Lennon. We’ll continue on a driving tour of Upper Manhattan and Harlem to see Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Columbia University, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Riverside Church, Grant’s Tomb, the Apollo Theatre, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the celebrity apartments along Central Park East and West, the Plaza Hotel, Radio City Music Hall, 5th Avenue, and more! (Brunch)
This morning we’ll board the motorcoach and continue our Manhattan sightseeing with our local guide. On a comprehensive driving tour, we’ll see Times Square, Grand Central Library, the Empire State Building, the Flatiron Building, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Vessel in Hudson Yards and travel through various neighborhoods including Greenwich Village, SoHo, Tribeca, Little Italy, Chinatown, and more! We’ll go inside the iconic Grand Central Terminal, visit Trinity Church and walk down Wall Street in the Financial District to see the New York Stock Exchange. This evening we’ll enjoy a night on Broadway! We’ll walk several blocks to a locals’ favorite in the heart of the Theatre District for an included dinner. Back onboard the ferry, we’ll continue to Ellis Island with time at leisure to explore the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration which features films, tours, exhibits and several ways to explore your own ancestry. We return to the hotel late this afternoon by subway. This evening we’ll walk several blocks to enjoy an included dinner followed by a visit to 30 Rockefeller Plaza, the skyscraper that forms the centerpiece of Rockefeller Center. We’ll take an elevator 85 floors up to Top of the Rock, the observation deck that features three levels and 360 degree views of New York City. (Dinner)
This morning, we’ll depart the hotel onboard the motorcoach and travel to Lower Manhattan. We’ll honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice with a visit to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. The Museum displays artifacts associated with the events of 9/11, while presenting stories of loss and recovery. On a self-guided tour you’ll come to better understand what happened on 9/11, how people responded in the aftermath of the attacks, and the history and rebuilding of the World Trade Center. Enjoy ample time at your leisure to pay your respects at the 9/11 Memorial – two reflecting pools set in the footprints of the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center. Back onboard the motorcoach we’ll continue to the Newark Airport for our scheduled nonstop return flight arriving in Los Angeles this evening. Those guests making their own flight arrangements can request the group’s flight schedule to coordinate a flight departure time that would allow them to be included on the complimentary transfer to the airport. Back in Los Angeles, those with included transfers will be returned to their respective drop-off locations.
