Join us as we welcome spring – the best of the seasons in California’s San Joaquin Valley. Nature is dressing her trees in pink and white, the air has been washed by the winter rains, and the sun is shining ever so delicately upon us. On this four-day getaway, we’ll spend two days exploring Fresno County’s famed Blossom Trail with tours and samples at local family farms, dairies and creameries. All the while, we’ll unpack once and enjoy a leisurely stay at the Wonder Valley Ranch Resort – the all-inclusive western-style resort nestled amongst mature oaks and sycamores in the scenic Sierra foothills.
From our departure points this morning we’ll travel by deluxe motorcoach into California’s fertile San Joaquin Valley – the southern section of the greater Central Valley. Following a morning rest stop and a stop for lunch on your own, we’ll continue into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada where we’ll soon arrive at the Wonder Valley Ranch Resort, the 75-acre all-inclusive western-style guest ranch located in the scenic Wonder Valley east of Sanger. While enjoying a three-night leisure stay at California’s oldest guest ranch, we’ll appreciate the modern accommodations, paved walkways with antique lamps, gorgeous grounds and the attentive service. Upon our arrival in the late afternoon, we’ll enjoy a historic tour of the ranch followed by a nightly hosted “happy hour.” Following a scrumptious ranch buffet dinner, we’ll gather around the campfire and recall memories of warm family gatherings while you sip hot cider or cocoa amongst the good company of your fellow travelers. Enjoy a horse-drawn hayride for spectacular views of the night sky (weather permitting) and a magic show. (Dinner)
Following an included breakfast at the resort this morning we’ll board the motorcoach with our resort guide for sightseeing along Fresno County’s famed Blossom Trail. We’ll travel along backroads through the San Joaquin Valley, which lies just east of California’s coastal mountain range in the shadow of the Sierra Nevada. This region is blessed with the perfect combination of sun, soil, and water to produce an abundance of crops. In fact, Fresno County is home to 1.88 million acres of the world’s most productive farmland! This time of year, the countryside is typically alive and vibrant with blossoming fruit and nut trees along with wildflowers and the sweet aroma of orange blossoms filling the air. We’ll see first-hand the bounty and the beauty of this region as we travel along the Blossom Trail amongst rows of almond, plum, apricot, peach, nectarine, apple and citrus trees that are generally in bloom this time of year. We’ll visit several family farms to meet the owners, enjoy samples and learn how they grow, harvest, pack and ship their crops. Enjoy time at leisure for browsing and lunch on your own in Reedley, the small town lovingly known as the “World’s Fruit Basket.” We return to the resort later this afternoon to relax or take advantage of a wide variety of activities available including a swimming pool and hot tub, a lake for fishing and canoeing, tennis, basketball, volleyball, horseshoe pits, a game pavilion with ping pong, foosball and pool tables, cornhole, horseback riding (additional fee), archery (additional fee) and much more! This evening we’ll enjoy the hosted “happy hour,” included dinner and original entertainment. (Breakfast, Dinner)
After an included breakfast at the resort, we’ll join our resort guide for another day of sightseeing in the San Joaquin Valley. While grapes, almonds, strawberries, lettuce and tomatoes have long been known as California’s “cash crops,” dairy products are California’s top agricultural commodity! We’ll visit several San Joaquin Valley dairies and creameries to meet the animals and learn how they produce award-winning milk, cheese and ice cream with samples! Enjoy time at leisure for browsing and lunch on your own in the charming town of Kingsburg, known as “California’s Swedish Village.” Downtown Kingsburg features intricate Swedish architecture, Dala horses, Swedish flags, bay trees and collectibles shops. Upon our return to the resort later this afternoon we’ll enjoy the hosted “happy hour” followed by an included dinner and original entertainment. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Enjoy an included breakfast this morning before we begin our journey home. Enroute we’ll make several rest stops and a stop for lunch on your own. We’ll arrive back to our drop-off points this evening with many fond memories of our time exploring the San Joaquin Valley and the fun we had at the Wonder Valley Ranch Resort. (Breakfast)
If you prefer additional time at the Wonder Valley Ranch Resort to take full advantage of the amenities and outdoor activities, you may choose to stay back at the resort on days 2 and/or 3 (though there is no discount for this option).
