For those craving a taste of Southern California’s iconic dishes and quintessential flavors, look no further then this foodie tour featuring long-standing and nostalgic L.A. eateries. They’ve stood the test of time, captivated hearts and become cherished culinary icons amongst L.A.’s rich tapestry of timeless restaurants. Professional step-on guide, Curt – a true foodie known for his creative and memorable food adventures – leads the way on this delicious tasting tour to dining establishments that aren't just relics of the past – they thrive today due to amazing flavors and loyal patrons seeking the comforting embrace of tradition. At The Hat, we’ll savor their “World Famous Pastrami” which locals tout as the best in L.A. since 1951! Their pastrami is brined, seasoned with a medley of herbs and spices, smoked, steamed, and then thinly sliced and stacked high on a roll soaked in au jus, creating a mouthwatering masterpiece. While it took some time for the public to discover the small hamburger stand that Tommy Koulax founded in 1946, his dedication to quality and fast service paid off in the mid-1950s when Original Tommy’s gained a reputation and became world famous. At the original Original Tommy’s, we’ll enjoy their signature Chili Cheeseburger at their iconic stand-up counters alongside the building, an experience that epitomizes the essence of Los Angeles. Philippe the Original is the historic landmark that has been serving up delicious comfort food since 1908 – making it the oldest restaurant in Los Angeles! While this legendary deli-style restaurant is known for its rows of communal tables, wood shavings on the floor and variety of old-fashioned foods, we’ll sample their famous French dip sandwich, which was supposedly invented here by delightful accident. We’ll sample the “Best Doggone Hot Dog on the Planet” at Pink’s, the Hollywood legend since 1939! Founded by Paul and Betty Pink selling 10-cent hot dogs from a pushcart, Pink’s is now a legendary institution and a renowned hangout for movie and television stars. And at Littlejohn's Candies, we’ll taste the mouthwatering English Toffee that has been made in small batches the same way Mr. and Mrs. Littlejohn did back in the 1920s. The tastings on today’s tour are equivalent to an included lunch. Gluten-free alternatives can be provided if notice is provided at least one week prior to departure. Tasting locations and menu subject to change.
