Celebrate the dawn of cinema on this fascinating new tour focusing on the formative years and the glamorous heyday of Hollywood in the early 1900s. Our nostalgic journey begins at the Hollywood Heritage Museum, housed within the historic Lasky-DeMille Barn. Built in 1901, this humble structure became the birthplace of the feature-length film when Cecil B. DeMille used it to direct The Squaw Man in 1913. Today, it stands as Hollywood's first studio, meticulously restored to tell the story of the silent era through rare archival photographs, authentic props, and a faithful recreation of DeMille’s own office, featuring his personal belongings. We’ll then continue on a driving tour of Hollywood’s most enduring treasures including the Egyptian Theatre, site of the first-ever Hollywood premiere in 1922, and the iconic Hollywood Roosevelt, where the very first Academy Awards were held. See Musso & Frank Grill, Hollywood’s oldest restaurant and the “office for writers” like F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway. You’ll see the mid-century brilliance of the Capitol Records Building and the Cinerama Dome. We’ll take a short stroll along Hollywood Boulevard to explore the Walk of Fame and stand in the footprints of legends at the legendary Chinese Theatre (pending a film premier). Our included lunch with choice of entrée (chicken breast sandwich, cobb salad, hamburger, veggie burger) and dessert will be a star-studded affair at Mel’s Drive-In Hollywood. This quintessential Hollywood landmark uniquely housed in a portion of the historic Max Factor Building, a 1935 Hollywood Regency-style masterpiece where the stars of the Golden Age came to “get their faces on.” You’ll dine amidst 1950s nostalgia – complete with classic vinyl booths, neon signs and tabletop jukeboxes that play oldies – in the same building where icons like Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth once had their hair and makeup done. This afternoon we’ll head next door to the Hollywood Museum, which boasts the most extensive collection of Hollywood memorabilia in the world! Spanning four floors, you’ll discover more than 10,000 authentic treasures, including the original "makeup rooms" where Max Factor transformed Lucille Ball and Judy Garland. Led by former actress and Old Hollywood aficionado, Jasmin, this unforgettable tour provides an insider’s look at the incredible dreams and dramas that built Tinseltown.
To ensure a healthy and enjoyable travel experience for our guests, this tour will operate with additional health & wellness measures in place.
