On display for a limited time, Maya: The Exhibition, features over 250 authentic artifacts – many on tour outside of Guatemala for the first time – highlighting the ancient Maya civilization of Mexico and Central America. Marvel at a majestic 9-foot-long sculpture of a jaguar warrior and gaze into a magnificent mask made of obsidian and jade. In addition to priceless artifacts, the exhibition features interactive, hands-on displays focused on the Maya history, culture and achievements in art, architecture, astronomy, mathematics, and writing that will allow you to learn more about Maya culture first-hand, discover how the ancient Maya built and sustained complex cities in the heart of the rainforest extending back 3,000 years, and learn how the Maya live on today with millions carrying on the Maya traditions and language. Our experience will be enhanced while watching the newest IMAX film, Mystery of the Maya, on a giant 7-story screen. Capturing the vastness and grandeur of Maya civilization, Mystery of the Maya follows an archaeologist and young Maya descendant as they lead us on a breathtaking trip through a millennium of Maya history – from the towering pyramids of Chichen Itza to the hidden caves of Belize. Journey back in time and witness the splendor of Maya culture at its zenith as a handful of intrepid archaeologists and explorers unearth long-lost temples and a tomb of an ancient king in the dense jungle.
