|Get away for the day and travel up the coast to Santa Barbara for a historical food tasting tour in “America’s Riviera.” While this fabulous beach town has long been known for its sparking shoreline, Spanish-infused architecture and creative spirit, more recently it’s being recognized for its burgeoning cuisine scene. This new culinary experience provides an up-close and personal look into Santa Barbara’s food scene – classic to contemporary, fresh to fusion, inventive to vibrant. Led by a knowledgeable local guide, we’ll walk a total of four blocks in downtown Santa Barbara and in the ever-evolving artistic neighborhood known as The Funk Zone. We’ll visit six different shops and restaurants with an included tasting at each. We’ll savor tacos at the Santa Barbara Public Market, French macarons at a patisserie, lobster bisque, Asian noodles, sip local wine and top off our tasting tour with the best ice cream in Santa Barbara! The tastings on this comprehensive, four-hour tour are equivalent to a large lunch. Along the way, we’ll admire the architecture and encounter several historical sites including Arlington Theater, Hotel Californian and the Santa Barbara County Courthouse. Considered one of the most beautiful government buildings in America, Santa Barbara's historic Spanish-Moorish style courthouse features a stunning Mural Room showcasing a romanticized version of Santa Barbara's history over 6,000 square feet of wall space. Not to be outdone, the El Mirador clock tower allows for a breathtaking view of the city. This tour involves extensive walking with standing. |
