This new holiday experience in agriculturally rich Ventura County begins with a Victorian Christmas at the Camarillo Ranch House – a beautiful 14-room Queen Anne-style Victorian home. Built in 1892 by Adolfo Camarillo and recently restored to its original splendor, during this special time of year, the home is elegantly decorated as it would have been around the turn-of-the-century complete with Christmas trees, elegant lighting and more. Take a stroll through the estate’s beautifully manicured gardens and tour the house while learning about the original Rancho and the Camarillo White Horses that originated from this ranch and gained world-wide notoriety when they marched in the Rose Parade. Then, enjoy an included barbeque luncheon featuring barbeque chicken, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, rolls, green salad, chocolate chunk cookies and iced tea in the ranch’s renovated 1905 red barn. This afternoon we continue to Somis, a tiny little town tucked into the fertile Las Posas Valley. Enjoy time at leisure shopping for a variety of goodies including unique candies, nuts, dried fruits, and gift baskets at the Somis Nut House, a family-operated packing house that has been enjoyed by locals for more than 60 years! We top off the day with Christmas on the Farm at Underwood Family Farms. Enjoy a tractor-drawn wagon ride through the farm along with time at leisure to visit the holiday store, the farm animals and the farm’s market filled with field-fresh crops, jarred products, and specialty items for sale. This tour involves moderate walking. |
