Breathe in the crisp, clean mountain air and enjoy a cozy winter day when we escape to Oak Glen, “where apples grow a mile high” in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains (elevation 5,000’) during the merriest time of year. We’ll visit Wilshire’s Apple Shed, the unique mountain destination established in 1945 that is filled with the charm of yesteryear and a gift shop featuring unique gifts and specialty food sourced from craftsmen and craftswomen around the world. We’ll join a live band to sing Christmas Carols and enjoy an included holiday luncheon featuring delicious slow-cooked tri-tip, barbecue chicken, cowboy beans, garlic roasted potatoes, a dinner roll with their famous apple butter and a slice of apple pie. We continue to Riley’s Los Rios Rancho where we’ll enjoy a tractor-pulled wagon ride through the picturesque family-owned apple farm in the heart of “apple country.” Enjoy time at leisure browsing their country store featuring jams, pumpkin butter, local honey, farm-made wine and hard cider, artisan balsamic vinegars and oils, and fresh apple cider and apple pies. This tour involves moderate walking. |
