New Itinerary

On this new San Diego rail adventure, we’ll motorcoach to San Juan Capistrano to board an Amtrak train for a coastal ride to San Diego. Enjoy Business Class seating aboard Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner train as we travel south enjoying the spectacular ocean views along this protected stretch of coastline. In San Diego, we’ll reboard our motorcoach and continue to historic Old Town where you’ll enjoy approximately 4 hours at leisure in Old Town, San Diego’s oldest neighborhood and its original “downtown.” Still the historic heart of the city, Old Town San Diego features several acres of Mexican heritage and so much to experience. Known for its authentic Mexican cuisine, Old Town's dining is lively, vibrant and diverse. Whether it’s upscale dining or a charming café, the dining here features traditional flavors and techniques using indigenous Mexican ingredients. Shopping in Old Town reflects the history of the 1800s and captures the essence of San Diego's colorful past. A diverse selection of more than 75 stores can be found here – featuring those selling everything from candy to candles. Old Town Market Place, an open-air courtyard, is home to a variety of carts and shops that sell handcrafted trinkets, clothing and accessories traditional to the Mexican culture. Bazaar del Mundo (translated as “marketplace of the world") is a San Diego shopping and dining institution popular for food, folklore and fun. In Old Town State Historic Park, you can wander through lush gardens and plazas, listen to strolling mariachis, watch folklorico dancers and witness the living legacy of California's birthplace at museums and historic sites. The Park’s many preserved historic buildings and museums commemorate the early days of San Diego from the period 1820 to 1870, allowing you to experience California's early history first-hand. Museums have separate admission fees payable on-site. We will motorcoach home. Each guest is asked to bring a driver’s license or other government-issued photo identification to present to Amtrak on the day of the tour if requested to do so.
To ensure a healthy and enjoyable travel experience for our guests, this tour will operate with additional health and safety measures in place.
