Today we’ll rewind the clock and step back in time as we spend the day admiring both man-made and scenic natural beauty in Ventura County! We begin at the Mullin Automotive Museum, a spectacular museum that pays homage to the Art Deco and Machine Age eras, when exquisite art and magnificent automobiles were created and celebrated. Along with the world’s largest private collection of Bugattis (almost 40), the museum features other exquisite French-built cars covering several decades including Delages, Delahayes, Hispano-Suizas, Talbot-Lagos and Voisin. Several of the automobiles in this collection of beautifully styled and amazingly engineered French treasures have won prestigious awards at Concours d’Elegance, or were past winners of historic races such as the Grand Prix de Pau and Le Mans. The streamlined styling of French automobiles of the 1920s and 1930s was mirrored in the art and architecture of the day. To complement the vehicles, the Mullin Collection showcases unique pieces of furniture, decorative arts, paintings and photographs from this influential era. We continue to the picturesque Ventura Harbor Village with time at leisure to stroll along the waterfront promenade to browse the boutiques and art galleries and enjoy lunch on your own at a variety of waterfront eateries. This afternoon, we’ll enjoy a narrated cruise to admire the scenic and natural beauty of the Ventura Harbor and possibly get up-close and personal with some of the local seals and sea lions. An included ice cream in a signature, fish-shaped waffle cone (known in Japan as “taiyaki”) from a local ice cream parlor will top off our memorable day! |
