Join us on an adventure into California’s bygone past as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of ‘Ramona,’ California’s historic outdoor pageant that is America’s ‘Longest Continual Running Outdoor Drama’! We’ll travel through the beautiful rolling hills of Hemet to the Ramona Bowl Amphitheatre to watch in amazement as a cast of hundreds of actors, Spanish dancers, musicians, cowboys and horsemen use an entire hillside as their stage to tell the story of ‘Ramona.’ This iconic fixture in the history of California is based on the romantic tale of Ramona and her lover Alessandro from Helen Hunt Jackson’s 1884 book, Ramona. The play offers a glimpse into the many struggles and tragedies of early California – specifically the early Native Americans during the 1850s. Always spectacular and alive with the spirit of California’s vast history and traditions, ‘Ramona’ has been thrilling audiences since 1923 and is sure to delight and inspire. More than just a love story, the pageantry and grandeur of this timeless play that is filled with music, drama, comedy, dance and romance, creates an aura of exuberance that you simply cannot experience anywhere else. In addition to reserved seating, seat cushion and souvenir program, prior to the performance we’ll enjoy a chuckwagon barbecue lunch (served at approximately 1:30 p.m.) that features barbecue chicken, ranch-style beans, coleslaw, dinner roll, dessert and beverage in Ramona Bowl’s corral. This tour involves moderate walking. |
