Holy Guacamole! Santa Barbara County is the third largest producer of avocados in North America, so it’s no surprise we’re headed to downtown Carpinteria for the 37th annual California Avocado Festival. First, we’ll motorcoach to L.A.’s Union Station to board the deluxe Coast Starlight train for a relaxing and scenic ride along the coast to Santa Barbara, known as “America’s Riviera.” The Coast Starlight is the only Amtrak train offering an observation car for spectacular ocean views! Upon arrival in Santa Barbara, our motorcoach will transport us to the charming seaside town of Carpinteria for this festival that celebrates the avocado with a commercial marketplace, an arts & crafts venue, four entertainment stages and food vendors – some featuring creative avocado and guacamole dishes. Don’t miss the Largest Avocado Contest and the World’s Largest Vat of Guacamole! Enjoy time at leisure to explore the festival, shops and boutiques with lunch on your own in downtown Carpinteria. We will motorcoach home. Each guest is asked to bring a driver’s license or other government-issued photo identification to present to Amtrak on the day of the tour if requested to do so. Should the Coast Starlight train be canceled by Amtrak, an Amtrak Surfliner train or an included lunch may be substituted. |
