Day 5
Thursday, 5/25/2023 - Louisiana Bayou & Plantation Country
Following an included breakfast, we’ll travel to the Louisiana bayou. On a narrated swamp cruise a native Cajun boat captain will provide narration as we travel through the narrow channels overhung with Spanish moss in this mystical and oftentimes otherworldly place. We’ll visit Oak Alley Plantation, the National Historic Site called the “Grande Dame of the Great River Road.” The quarter-mile canopy of giant live oak trees, believed to be nearly 300 years old, forms an impressive avenue leading to the classic Greek-revival style antebellum home. Day 6
Friday, 5/26/2023 - New Orleans, Journey Home
After an included breakfast, we’ll enjoy beignets and caféau lait at CafeDu Monde, the Original French Market coffee stand established in 1862. We continue to Mardi Gras World for a guided tour that will take us behind-the-scenes of one of America’s most renowned (and most raucous) celebrations! Mardi Gras World isn’t a museum – it’s a warehouse, workshop and amazing fantasy factory where we can learn more about the festival’s history and wander through a maze of flamboyant floats, costumes and props used during New Orleans’ famous party. Enjoy time at leisure this afternoon in the bustling French Market, “America’s Oldest Public Market,” which has been in the same site since 1791. Explore six blocks with over 20 unique retail shops, restaurants, cafes, a flea market and a farmers’ market featuring a diversity of food vendors. Late this afternoon we’ll return to the New Orleans International Airport to board a scheduled, non-stop flight arriving in Los Angeles this evening. Those guests making their own flight arrangements can request the group’s flight schedule (scheduled to change) to coordinate a similar flight departure time. Back in Los Angeles, those guests with pre-arranged transfers will be returned to their respective drop-offs.

Guests on this tour should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances. Because of the historic and narrow French Quarter streets, guests will be required to walk 3-4 short blocks between the motorcoach drop-off and the hotel. The French Quarter walking tour is approximately 90 minutes and 1/4 mile.

While we make every effort to operate our tours as outlined in the itinerary, we ask for your patience, understanding and flexibility and to retain a sense of adventure while traveling with us. Situations may arise that necessitate changes to the itinerary. Should we need to adjust the itinerary either prior to or while on tour, these changes will be communicated to you and only done when absolutely necessary.
