Day By Day Itinerary:
Day 1
Wednesday, 9/29/2021 - Solvang, Cambria
We set out from our departure points this morning onboard our deluxe motorcoach for the tranquility of California’s Central Coast. We’ll travel through the Santa Ynez Valley to the quaint Danish town of Solvang. This charming village known as “Little Denmark” is like a page from a Hans Christian Andersen fairytale – complete with all the sights, sounds and delicious aromas of a true Danish village. Enjoy time at leisure for lunch on your own at a variety of eateries. The shopping here is endless – more than 100 one-of-a-kind shops including high-end boutiques, European imports, art galleries and bakeries selling fresh-made Danish aebleskivers, shortbread cookies and kringles! This afternoon we continue north to the quaint seaside village of Cambria – the artists’ colony nestled in a forest of towering Monterey Pines along a craggy stretch of the California Central Coast. We’ll spend the next two nights at a charming inn featuring cozy rooms with fireplaces in each room and a heated pool. The inn features newly renovated rooms and an oceanfront setting on Cambria’s Moonstone Beach, a spectacular stretch of rugged coastline which offers an extraordinary array of tide pools, walk-able bluff-top boardwalk and a spectacular vantage point for memorable sunsets. Enjoy dinner on your own at a nearby restaurant this evening or enjoy time at leisure in Cambria’s East Village featuring a variety of restaurants.
Day 2
Thursday, 9/30/2021 - Cambria, Field of Light at Sensorio
Following an included breakfast, we’ll enjoy a scenic ride along the coast north of Cambria to the elephant seal rookery at Piedras Blancas. This location is one of only a few spots in the world where northern elephant seals can be seen in vast numbers. Although elephant seals spend most of their lives in the open ocean, they arrive at this rookery to give birth, breed, molt and rest from long migrations in the ocean in search of food. We’ll continue to William Randolph Hearst State Beach to take a walk along the pier in this protected cove. After exploring Old San Simeon Village, we’ll return south and enjoy time at leisure browsing the charming shops, boutiques and galleries in Cambria’s quaint and historic East and West Village. This seaside village nestled in a forest of towering Monterey Pines is also a renowned artists’ colony. The galleries offer an eclectic selection of everything from art glass to watercolor painting, nature photography to abstracts created by both well-known and local artists. Following an included dinner at a locals’ favorite, we’ll top off a memorable day at Field of Light at Sensorio. Internationally-acclaimed artist Bruce Munro and his team spent five weeks assembling his largest artwork to date in a valley between rolling hills just east of downtown Paso Robles. This enormous, multi-acre walk-through installation is comprised of nearly 60,000 spherical “flowers” that are lit by fiber-optics gently illuminating the landscape in subtle blooms of morphing color. As you stroll along the flat, lit trail at your own pace, you’ll be amazed by this stunning display of “solar flowers” that create a living kaleidoscope of color. And just unveiled and now on display, is the new Light Towers installation, a stunning new exhibit that celebrates Paso Robles’ wine heritage. These colorful 6-foot-tall towers composed of more than 17,000 wine bottles, are illuminated with glowing optic fibers whose colors morph to a moving musical score.

Day 3
Friday, 10/1/2021 - Point San Luis Lighthouse, Journey Home
After an included breakfast this morning, we begin our journey south. In Avila Beach we’ll enjoy the breathtaking ocean views as we travel along Lighthouse Road to Point San Luis Lighthouse. Known as the “Jewel of the Central Coast,” this historic light station built in 1890, enjoys dramatic views stretching from Avila south to Vandenberg Air Force Base. Learn what life was like for the Lighthouse Keeper and his family and experience a rich history as we tour the grounds, the beautifully restored lighthouse, the horn house, and see the lustrous original Fresnel lens. We’ll then enjoy an included lunch amongst this restored sentinel of the sea. We continue south making a rest stop along the way.
