On this week-long journey through our nation’s northeastern-most corner, we’ll travel the back roads through three states to discover the true essence of northern New England. From maple sugaring in the White Mountains of New Hampshire to moose watching in the Rangeley Lakes region to the endless vistas and majestic wilderness in Acadia National Park, this unique itinerary features pristine mountains and lakes, charming seaside towns and the fabled coastline of this picturesque and historic region.

  • Stay two nights at a charming inn in Rangeley, located in the heart of Maine’s lakes and mountains region with a guided tour of the Rangeley Lakes region, a visit to the Rangeley Outdoor Heritage Museum and a guided "moose tour" in search of these shy and elusive animals
  • Stay two nights in Bar Harbor on Maine’s Mount Desert Island with a narrated nature cruise on Frenchman’s Bay, a traditional lobster bake dinner and a driving tour with a local guide of Acadia National Park – the “Crown Jewel of the North Atlantic Coast”

Day By Day Itinerary:
Day 1
Friday, 6/11/2021 - Arrive in Boston
Optional transfers from home or our departure points this morning will have us at the Los Angeles International Airport for our scheduled non-stop flight arriving into Boston in the late afternoon. Those passengers not taking advantage of the optional group air, should arrive at Boston’s Logan Airport by 5:00 p.m. if they want to be included on the complimentary transfer from the airport to the hotel. A deluxe motorcoach will be waiting to transport us to our nearby hotel. Become better acquainted with your fellow travelers this evening at an included welcome dinner at a locals’ favorite.

Day 2
Saturday, 6/12/2021 - New Hampshire, Rangeley
Following an included breakfast, we’ll travel north to the White Mountains of New Hampshire and visit the Rocks Estate, the historic landmark situated on 1,400 acres overlooking New Hampshire’s Presidential Mountain Range. At the estate’s New Hampshire Maple Experience Museum we’ll explore the history and process of creating sweet maple syrup. Learn about the sap boiling process, view antique sugaring tools and sample syrup during this unique maple sugaring experience! We continue to Littleton, Maine with time at leisure for lunch on own and browsing the shops and covered bridge in this quintessential New England town. This evening we arrive in the heart of Maine’s lakes and mountains region and begin a two-night stay at a beautifully restored, landmark property dating to the late 19th century. Experience the grandeur and charm of Rangeley’s past as you relax in the Inn’s tavern, comfortable parlor or in a rocking chair on the porch overlooking Main Street. The Inn is conveniently located in the heart of town, within walking distance of shops, Rangeley Lake and Rangeley Town Cove Park. Enjoy an included dinner at the Inn.
Day 3
Sunday, 6/13/2021 - Rangeley Lakes
After an included breakfast, join a local guide for a guided tour of the Rangeley Lakes region, in- cluding a stop at the Oquossoc Log Church and Height of Land Overlook. Visit the Rangeley Outdoor Heritage Museum featuring stories and artifacts of the Rangeley region in a museum that reflects the ambiance of an authentic early sporting camp. Learn of the famous Americans who came to this pristine destination for outdoor adventure and serenity. After an included lunch at The Rangeley Inn, this afternoon, we’ll be on the lookout for moose. We’ll drive down back roads with our local guide in search of these shy and elusive animals on a guided moose watching tour (like all wildlife, moose are unpredictable and sightings are never guaranteed).
Day 4
Monday, 6/14/2021 - Bangor, Bar Harbor
Following an included breakfast, we’ll travel to Bangor where we’ll be joined by a local guide for a driving tour including views of Steven King’s home and sites related to his novels. Following time at leisure for lunch on own in Bangor, we continue to Bar Harbor, located on Maine’s rocky coast and surrounded by Acadia National Park. After an included dinner at a locals’ favorite overlooking Frenchman Bay, we’ll begin a two-night stay at a premier Bar Harbor hotel.
Day 5
Tuesday, 6/15/2021 - Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park
After an included breakfast we’ll embark on a narrated nature cruise amongst the porcupine islands on Frenchman Bay featuring the breathtaking scenery of coastal Maine, Acadia National Park, and the Bar Harbor shoreline. Your naturalist guide will point out any seals, harbor porpoises, osprey or eagles. Following time at leisure for lunch and browsing in Bar Harbor, we’ll be joined by a local guide for a driving tour of Acadia National Park, known as the “Crown Jewel of the North Atlantic Coast.” All the beauty of Maine comes together in Acadia National Park. Mountains, conifers, and wildlife meet the ocean in a spectacle that, once seen, is never forgotten. This National Park – the oldest east of the Mississippi River, was at the turn of the century, a gilded age summer colony for millionaires such as the Vanderbilt and Astors. We’ll follow the 27 mile, stonewall-lined and tree-covered Park Loop Road to see the soaring granite cliffs and sweeping vistas that lend a special mystique to the area. Visit Sand Beach, Thunder Hole (where the waves crashing against the hollow rocks sounds like thunderclaps), and Otter Cliff. We continue to the summit of Cadillac Mountain (1,500 feet elevation) – the highest of Mount Desert’s seventeen peaks – for spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, bays and islands. Enjoy an included traditional lobster bake dinner (alternative entree available) this evening.
Day 6
Wednesday, 6/16/2021 - Boothbay, Ogunquit
Following an included breakfast, we’ll travel south to Boothbay and visit the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. Enjoy an included boxed lunch and time at leisure to stroll through the Meditation Garden, Rhododendron & Perennial Garden, the Forest Pond, and the Garden of the Five Senses featuring plants that appeal to each sense. We continue south to Ogunquit to enjoy an overnight stay at an incredible inn overlooking the ocean and adjacent to the Marginal Way – the accessible cliff side walk. Ogunquit is a quintessential New England port of tranquil coves and beaches that was once a fishing and shipbuilding center, but now thrives on its beauty as a summer resort destination. Enjoy time at leisure in the scenic village of Perkins Cove followed by an included dinner this evening.
Day 7
Thursday, 6/17/2021 - Maine's Southern Coast, Boston, Journey Home
After an included breakfast, we’ll enjoy a scenic lobstering cruise aboard the Finestkind I. As you take in the scenic beauty of Ogunquit’s shoreline, an authentic Maine lobsterman will haul in lobster traps and provide a first-hand lobstering experience! We continue south to York for a photo stop at the iconic Nubble Light. This afternoon we return to Boston for a narrated Charles River cruise for fantastic views of Boston and Cambridge. Sights include Beacon Hill, Esplanade Park, the Back Bay, Boston University, M.I.T., Harvard and countless sailboats and rowers! We return to the Logan International Airport for our scheduled nonstop flight to Los Angeles. Those passengers not taking advantage of the optional group air, should depart Boston’s Logan Airport no earlier than 5:30 p.m. Back in Los Angeles, those with pre-arranged transfers will be returned to their respective destinations with many fond memories of our time in Maine.
