Those guests not taking advantage of the optional group airfare, should arrive at the Charleston International Airport by 5:30 p.m. to be included on the complimentary transfer to the hotel. Welcome to Charleston, South Carolina, known as the “Grand Dame of the South.” Charleston is regarded as one of America’s most beautiful cities – a place where southern breezes and cobblestone streets pave the way to stately Antebellum homes and southern hospitality. We’ll enjoy a relaxing, three-night stay at a boutique hotel located in the heart of the Charleston Historic District so all that is unique to the “Holy City” is a short stroll from your cozy inn room!

Tuesday, 4/19/2022 - Charleston, Fort Sumter
Following an included breakfast, we’ll enjoy a narrated carriage tour of Charleston’s graceful Historic District, known for beautiful homes and churches – many of which pre-date the Revolutionary War. Enjoy time at leisure exploring the unique shops and restaurants in Historic Charleston City Market. This afternoon we’ll enjoy a guided sightseeing cruise of Charleston Harbor, disembarking at Fort Sumter National Historical Park. It was here in 1861 that a single gunshot caused a chain reaction of social and political events, exploding into the Civil War. This evening, we’ll enjoy an included dinner at a locals’ favorite.
Day 3
Wednesday, 4/20/2022 - Charleston Plantations
Following an included breakfast, we’ll visit Middleton Place, the National Historic Landmark situated along the Ashley River and an enduring, vibrant and essential part of the Charleston and American experience. Enjoy a stroll through the formal gardens – America’s oldest landscaped gardens – and a visit to the Plantation Stableyards where craftspeople perform the skills slaves practiced in the 18th and 19th century. We’ll enjoy an included, authentic “Lowcountry” lunch including southern favorites like barbeque pork, fried chicken, collard greens, hoppin’ john, corn pudding and more! This afternoon we continue to Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, a 17th century estate with one of the largest collections of azaleas in the country! We’ll join a naturalist guide on a narrated tram tour through the plantation’s wetlands, forests and marshes in search of alligators, turtles, egrets, and herons in their native habitats. This afternoon we continue to Georgia’s Golden Isles and Jekyll Island, Georgia home to miles of wide, barrier island beaches and dune-lined woodlands. In 1887 with the opening of the Jekyll Island Club Hotel, Jekyll Island became an exclusive “escape” for the wealthiest Easterners who could enjoy scenic and secluded winters here amid unspoiled natural beauty and live oak trees draped in Spanish moss. Enjoy a memorable included dinner and overnight stay at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel, featuring unmatched Victorian charm – from the leaded art glass windows and ornate woodwork to a lofty tower and encircling verandas.

These century old buildings, that were once cotton warehouses, have been converted to antique shops, distinctive boutiques, spectacular galleries, and fabulous restaurants. This evening we begin a two-night stay at a deluxe hotel near Savannah’s Historic District – designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966, it is one of the largest historic landmarks in the country.
