The world’s first National Park inspires awe any time of the year, but as you’ll discover on this very unique adventure, visiting Yellowstone during the winter – when bison, elk and wolves wander across snow-covered valleys, and Yellowstone’s amazing geologic features are even more spectacular – truly allows you to see the real Yellowstone. Exploring by snow coach or snowmobile, you’ll feel like you pretty much have this incredible place to yourself as you encounter geysers, fumaroles and mud pots surrounded by frozen landscapes. Combined with Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park as well as sightseeing in Park City and Salt Lake City, this is a whole other type of tour – and perhaps other-worldly experience.

Day By Day Itinerary:
Day 1
Saturday, 2/19/2022 - Arrive in Salt Lake City
Optional transfers from home or our departure points this morning will have us at LAX or the Long Beach Airport for our scheduled non-stop flight arriving in Salt Lake City this afternoon. Those passengers not taking advantage of the optional group air, should arrive at the Salt Lake City International Airport by 1:00 p.m., if they want to be included on the complimentary transfer from the airport and the city tour. You’ll board a deluxe motorcoach and continue to downtown Salt Lake City and a deluxe hotel. At the hotel you’ll join your local guide and embark on a panoramic tour of Salt Lake City, Utah’s political and cultural center silhouetted by the lovely Wasatch Mountains. In 1847 Brigham Young chose the Salt Lake Valley as the area to become the major settlement of the Mormon Pioneers. Laid out more than 150 years ago, the “City of the Saints” still manages to keep its rustic charm. You’ll visit the Utah State Capitol, This is the Place Monument and see sites from the 2002 Winter Olympics Games. This evening, enjoy an included dinner at a locals’ favorite.

Sunday, 2/20/2022 - Salt Lake City to Jackson, Utah Olympic Park
Following an included breakfast, you’ll visit Temple Square and attend a live broadcast of Music and the Spoken Word, featuring the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square (choir schedule permitting). You’ll then enjoy a short scenic drive into the beautiful Wasatch Mountains to Park City and arrive at Utah Olympic Park with time at leisure to browse the Utah Ski & Olympic Museum. Then, enjoy a guided tour of this amazing facility that hosted events during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games and continues to host World Cup events. See the ski jumps as well as the track for the bobsled and luge – home to some of the fastest ice on Earth! You’ll continue north through the rugged landscape of western Wyoming and make your way to the charming, wild west town of Jackson, tucked into the Jackson Hole Valley. You’ll enjoy a three-night stay here at an inn located in the heart of downtown Jackson. Enjoy an included dinner at a locals’ favorite this evening.

Monday, 2/21/2022 - Grand Teton National Park
Following an included breakfast, you’ll travel into Grand Teton National Park to enjoy a winter day in the shadow of America’s youngest and most rugged mountains. The Tetons pierce the clouds in majestic splendor and you’ll make several stops to appreciate the unparalleled scenic beauty. At the National Elk Refuge – winter refuge for thousands of elk – you’ll board a horse-drawn sleigh with a knowledgable sleigh driver onboard and travel right into the middle of this massive herd for up-close views of these majestic creatures. Enjoy the balance of the day at leisure in Jackson where you can stroll along the boardwalks in the Town Square, the heart of the town’s retail and artistic core. Or take advantage of a variety of optional tours and activities available in Jackson including snowmobile tours, cross country and downhill skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding and more.

Tuesday, 2/22/2022 - Yellowstone National Park
This morning you’ll travel by motorcoach to Flagg Ranch, at the southern entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Enjoy an included breakfast and then choose your transportation from which to explore Yellowstone National Park – a private chartered snow coach or a snowmobile. The heated snow coaches are driven by an experienced local guide and the vehicles provide a clear view as they move easily across the snow. If you choose a snowmobile, you’ll be outfitted with the necessary gear, provided with driving instructions and a professional guide will lead you on a day of adventure. Either way, you will have a memorable experience exploring this mysterious land of steaming geysers and bubbling mudpots – a land so amazing that the first explorers to bring back tales of Yellowstone were called liars. Visit some of Yellowstone’s most famous highlights, including Moose Falls, Lewis Canyon, Lewis Falls, West Thumb Geyser Basin and the world’s most famous geyser, Old Faithful –  which faithfully rises more than 60 feet in the air. At Old Faithful you’ll enjoy an included lunch and time to explore the area. You return to Jackson with the evening at leisure.

Wednesday, 2/23/2022 - Jackson to Salt Lake City
Following an included breakfast, you’ll travel south through scenic western Wyoming into Idaho, all the while surrounded by silver streams, soaring peaks, and lush meadows. Drive through the rugged Snake River Canyon and stop in the pastoral Starr Valley. You’ll return to Salt Lake City this evening and enjoy an included farewell dinner at a locals’ favorite.

Thursday, 2/24/2022 - Journey Home
Enjoy an included breakfast before a short transfer to the Salt Lake International Airport. Those passengers not taking advantage of the optional group air, may depart the Salt Lake City Airport at any time today. Those on the group flight will return to the Los Angeles or Long Beach Airport this evening and those with pre-arranged transfers will be returned to their respective drop-off points. You’ll have many fond memories of the incredible scenery and magnificent wildlife on this unique winter adventure.


This tour may be different from other tours offered by Good Times Travel, as the walking can be strenuous due to the high elevation (8,000 feet) and the snow and ice underfoot. Guests should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances over slippery surfaces. It is important that you have comfortable waterproof shoes or boots as well as winter clothing for this tour.

The land portion of this unique tour is operated by a local tour operator partner of ours that specializes in this area and provides a professional tour director to lead the group upon arrival in Salt Lake City. Our group will be joined by guests from other parts of the U.S. A Good Times Travel tour director will accompany our group only with a minimum number of Good Times Travel guests.
