Day By Day Itinerary:
Day 1
Sunday, 4/29/2018 - Coastal Train Ride
This morning we set out from our departure points for the charming Apple Farm Inn. We’ll travel by motorcoach to Oxnard to board Amtrak’s Coast Starlight train. Here begins a memorable four-hour rail journey along California’s coastline and through its fertile valleys to San Luis Obispo. We’ll travel along Point Conception and through Vandenberg Air Force Base where you’ll see the launch sites and beautiful undeveloped coastline only visible by train. You are free to move around the train, get lunch from the snack bar or enjoy lunch on own in the dining car. Check out the view from the observation car or just relax in your reclining seat. Upon our arrival in San Luis Obispo, our motorcoach will be waiting to take us the short distance to the quaint Apple Farm Inn. Nestled by San Luis Obispo Creek and surrounded by rolling hills, the Apple Farm Inn is a quaint 4-diamond, Victorian-style inn situated among a lush, quiet garden setting. The inn blends the country charm of yesteryear with all of the modern comforts we expect today including a fireplace in every room and a heated pool year round. Enjoy the inn’s complimentary wine reception prior to dinner on your own at the Apple Farm Inn Restaurant.
Day 2
Monday, 4/30/2018 - San Francisco & Sonoma Valley
Following an included breakfast at the inn we continue north to San Francisco, stopping at the always-popular Pier 39. Known for its historic waterfront, delicious seafood, spectacular sights and unique shopping, the Pier offers a wide array of things to do. Leaving San Francisco, we’ll travel across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge before arriving in the picturesque Sonoma Valley and our hotel, a sprawling resort featuring California Spanish architecture. Here we’ll enjoy a relaxing three-night stay. Enjoy dinner at leisure at the hotel’s restaurant or other restaurants within walking distance. 
Day 3
Tuesday, 5/1/2018 - Napa Valley Wine Train
Start your day with an included breakfast at the hotel prior to our journey to the famous Napa Valley – one of the most widely recognized wine regions in the world. Vineyards have been part of the landscape here for more than 150 years and today this valley is home to more than 260 wineries. Enjoy a glass of wine along with an included three-course gourmet lunch aboard the lavish Napa Valley Wine Train as it travels through the heart of the Napa Valley. This afternoon we continue to the historic town of Sonoma with time at leisure to explore the historic town plaza – a remnant of the town’s Spanish colonial past. 
Day 4
Wednesday, 5/2/2018 - Sonoma & Sussian River Valleys
We depart the hotel this morning and head north to Santa Rosa and the Charles Schulz owned and built Redwood Empire Ice Arena with an included breakfast in its unique coffee shop, “The Warm Puppy.” This is where Charles Schulz used to dine as he gazed out upon the kids on the ice rink. Then we’ll visit the Charles M. Schulz Museum. Since it opened in 2002 its mission has been to preserve, display, and interpret the art of this legendary cartoonist. Although born in Minnesota, Schulz called this area his home for over 40 years. See a replica of his studio, his original comic strips, photographs, artifacts, memorabilia, and licensed Peanuts products from around the world. We’ll continue deep into the Russian River Valley to the Armstrong Redwood State Natural Reserve, a preserve of stately and magnificent coast redwoods. This serene and majestic grove stand together as a testament to the wonders of the natural world. A naturalist-guide will join us we take a short easy stroll along the level trail through these towering redwoods. This afternoon we’ll enjoy a guided tour and tasting at an award-wining winery in the Sonoma Valley. We return to the hotel later this afternoon with the balance of the evening at leisure.
Day 5
Thursday, 5/3/2018 - Paso Robles & Pismo Beach
Following an included breakfast at the hotel we’ll travel south arriving in the Paso Robles region this afternoon. The fertile hills and valleys cooled by ocean breezes combine to make California’s Central Coast a prime grape-growing region. There are more than 25 different varieties of grapes and more than 100 wineries in the Paso Robles wine region – the fastest growing wine region in California. Today, we’ll visit perhaps the most spectacular winery in the region, Eberle Winery. Here we’ll go 35 feet underground to enjoy an included lunch with tasting inside Eberle’s wine “cave” – 16,000 square feet of space located below the winery and where every bottle of wine made here is aged. We continue the short distance to Pismo Beach featuring 23 miles of unspoiled sandy beaches and a dramatic rugged coastline. We’ll enjoy an overnight stay at a charming oceanfront inn with a fireplace in every room. This evening, enjoy an included and memorable farewell dinner at the eclectic and historic Madonna Inn. The timeless elegance and whimsical décor of this California landmark has intrigued visitors for more than 50 years. 
Day 6
Friday, 5/4/2018 - Santa Barbara & Journey Home
Following an included breakfast at the inn, we’ll head south along the back roads to Santa Barbara. We’ll visit the County Courthouse which was built in 1929 and called the “grandest Spanish Colonial Revival structure ever built.” Take the stairs to the observation tower that offers spectacular views! Enjoy time at leisure for lunch on your own and browsing in downtown Santa Barbara offering fabulous shopping along State Street and Paseo Nuevo – the Mediterranean-style shopping district. Returning to our drop-off points this evening, we’ll relish in the memories of our time relaxing on the Coast Starlight, the Napa Valley Wine Train and amongst California’s vineyards and redwoods.
