Unforgettable music in a phenomenal venue! The California Philharmonic’s world-renowned musicians will once again delight, amaze and entertain us with an awe-inspiring concert at the incomparable Walt Disney Concert Hall. In honor of Independence Day, the Cal Phil’s Made in America concert will feature great works of music written on our nation’s soil, including some of Frank Sinatra’s greatest hits such as “New York New York,” “Come Fly with Me,” and “My Way.” Also in the spirit of our country’s patriotism, A Lincoln Portrait, a classical orchestral work written by the American composer Aaron Copland will be performed by the full symphony while accompanying excerpts of Abraham Lincoln’s great documents and speeches are recited. Marvel at Dvorák’s most famous work, “New World Symphony,” inspired by African American spirituals and Native American rhythms. You’ll appreciate the way the Cal Phil reinvents the concert for today’s listener by bringing the music into a contemporary context and illuminates the connections between diverse musical genres. Designed by architect Frank Gehry to be one of the most acoustically sophisticated concert halls in the world, being inside the Disney Concert Hall is an experience unto itself providing both visual and aural intimacy for an unparalleled musical experience. Like its silver panel, your spirits will swoop, soar and sparkle as the music resounds around and within you. Terrace level seating. We’ll arrive in time for you to attend the lively and revealing pre-concert “Talk with the Maestro” with conductor Victor Vener. Enjoy lunch on your own prior to the matinee show at Olvera Street or Philippe The Original, the L.A. icon famous as the originator of the French dip.
