New Itinerary

Join us on this new tour showcasing historic and beautiful sights of prominent figures who once lived in this area adjacent to the Arroyo Seco in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. In La Cañada-Flintridge, enjoy a docent-guided tour of the Lanterman House, a beautiful Craftsman-style home that has belonged to Dr. Roy Lanterman and his family for almost 100 years and is filled with all the original furniture and wardrobe of the First Lady of the house. Designed as a fireproof bungalow in 1915, the Lanterman House is purported to be the first home west of the Mississippi that was built with concrete and the result is a unique architectural treasure. Its exquisite original interiors include elaborate hand-painted walls and ceiling ornamentation.

Hidden in the heart of Pasadena, the Storrier Stearns Japanese Gardens were conceived in the 1930s as a private estate garden of one aristocratic Pasadena couple. On a docent-guided tour we’ll take a stroll through these lovely, pond-style gardens that are a delightful oasis, and feature a 15-foot waterfall, formal tea house and authentic bronze figures and lanterns.

Enjoy time at leisure to browse the Norton Simon Museum, known around the world as one of the most remarkable private art collections ever assembled. Over a 30-year period, industrialist Norton Simon (1907–1993) amassed an astonishing collection of European art from the Renaissance to the 20th century, and a stellar collection of Indian and Southeast Asian art spanning 2,000 years. The museum also boasts an impressive Sculpture Garden. Enjoy time at leisure during the day for lunch on your own in Old Pasadena – home to a variety of restaurants. Suggested: walking shoes as there is considerable walking on uneven walkways.
