Today we are joined by professional step-on guide Curt, a history buff with an expertise on the evolution of L.A., especially loved by our clients for his charismatic personality and fun stories. On this new adventure we’ll explore the Mid-City area of L.A.’s Westside – a treasure trove of art, culture and dining.

While we’ll see the area’s most iconic sights like Rodeo Drive, the Beverly Wilshire, the Beverly Hilton Hotel and Fox Studios, we’ll also get to know some of the lesser-known “hidden gems” on this side of town. We begin in Westwood Village, the vibrant and unique historical landmark community built in 1928. Here we’ll enjoy an included donut of your choice at Stan's Corner Donut Shop, the nationally-acclaimed donut haven recognized for creating the world's finest donuts.

We continue to the Hammer Museum, founded in 1990 by industrialist Armand Hammer primarily to house his own collection of works of art from the 16th through the  20th century. Now, under the ownership of UCLA, this unique visual arts institution connects these classics to the cutting-edge in art, architecture, and design.

We continue through the UCLA campus to see the university’s most beloved 1920s architectural landmarks – Royce Hall and Powell Library. At the intimate and secluded Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park we’ll pay our respects to some of Hollywood’s most famous stars, including Marilyn Monroe, Dean Martin, Natalie Wood, Jack Lemmon, Donna Reed and Walter Matthau.

Enjoy an included lunch with choice of entrée at a true gem if ever there was one – tucked away in a nondescript shopping center and serving great Italian food for the last 50 years. This hidden Italian cafeteria was conceived from a simple idea – provide wholesome and gratifying Italian food in a relaxed casual atmosphere. The chef was born in northern Italy and received his formal training at the famed Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in Paris.

This afternoon we visit the Annenberg Space for Photography, the 10,000-square-foot cultural center located on the Avenue of the Stars in the heart of Century City. While dedicated to the study and celebration of digital and print photography as an art form, it takes an innovative approach to displaying its digital and print works. More than just images on a wall, exhibits at the Annenberg often incorporate videos and/or music, creating a more dynamic experience for the visitor. We continue along Wilshire Blvd. taking in the spectacular architecture and unique outdoor art pieces at LACMA including the forest of city street lights called “Urban Light” and “Levitated Mass,” featuring a 340-ton “levitated” boulder as its centerpiece. All visits subject to change.
