Tribute to Huell Howser: Wings & Windmills (CLH) Day Tour Calendar
Palm Springs Air Museum & Windfarm Tour

Departing: Saturday, March 24, 2018

1 Day Package

Price: $89 Per Person

On this tribute to Huell Howser and his uncanny ability to uncover amazing hidden secrets in the unlikeliest of places, we'll see clips of California’s Gold and Visiting…With Huell Howser onboard, and walk in his footsteps as we visit the sights ourselves. You’ll know which way the wind blows after today’s tour of two amazing sites in Palm Springs! First, a docent-guided tour of the Palm Springs Air Museum, dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of our air power in World War II. Tour one of the world’s largest collections of flying World War II warplanes, rare artifacts, memorabilia, and uniforms of World War II. Also see the museum’s newest hangar dedicated to the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After time at your leisure in downtown Palm Springs to enjoy lunch on your own, a knowledgable step-on guide boards our motorcoach to lead us on an informative driving tour of the Windmill farm. You’ve seen them as you’ve traveled through the fabled San Gorgonio Pass near Palm Springs – stupendous, giant windmills with blades half the length of a football field spinning around. These aren't the windmills we used to see on grandpa's farm – you’re looking at the future first-hand.  Spectacular mountain vistas provide a backdrop as we travel along the Colorado Desert terrain of the Coachella Valley. Learn why this forest of technological wonders was placed here, the history of wind and solar energy in the California desert, current utilization of wind power, and get an informative glimpse into the future of using this energy. This unique behind-the-scenes tour gets you up-close and personal to the enormous and beautiful windmills with incredible photo opportunities! We’ll also make a stop at Hadley’s, famous for their breads, nuts and date shakes. To honor Huell, we’ve included within the tour price a donation to the California's Gold Scholarship Fund at Chapman University.
