Our expert and charming Los Angeles step-on guide, Johnathon, leads this popular adventure to explore sights featured in the Academy-Award winning movie, La La Land! The film follows the budding romance between Mia, an aspiring actress, and Sebastian, a dedicated jazz musician, as they attempt to chase their dreams in the “City of Angels.” Set in modern day L.A., this original musical is a love letter to Los Angeles – in fact the city may be the movie’s biggest star. Whether you’ve seen the movie or not, you’ll love the stories behind the scenes as we visit a number of the sights featured in the movie. We begin with a stroll on Pasadena’s Colorado Street Bridge – this elegant 1,500-foot bridge built in 1913 was where Mia and Sebastian had a romantic stroll. Our journey continues to Burbank with an included lunch with choice of entrée and delicious garlic-cheese bread at the The SmokeHouse Restaurant – the Christmas-decorated restaurant where Mia first hears Sebastian playing the piano. Built in 1946 adjacent to Warner Bros. Studio, this legendary restaurant is still frequented by movie stars and epitomizes the unique feel of “Old Hollywood.” A driving tour of Hollywood Boulevard with a stop to see Hollywood’s treasured mural featuring icons of Hollywood’s “Golden Age” seated in a movie theatre, eerily staring back at you. This afternoon we’ll enjoy time at leisure at the Griffith Observatory – Griffith Park’s most recognizable landmark since it was built in 1935 – and its most famous movie location since 1955’s Rebel Without a Cause. The recently restored Art Deco building features spectacular exhibits and unbeatable hilltop views. We continue downtown to take a ride on the historic Angels Flight (if operating), and enjoy an included sweet treat from Grand Central Market. Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, this market houses a multicultural collection of classic and modern food vendors – including Sarita’s Pupuseria, which Mia and Sebastian are big fans of in the film. Additional surprises along the way!
