Ships Ahoy! (SBC) Day Tour Calendar
The Queen Mary & U.S.S. Iowa

Departing: Saturday, July 22, 2017

1 Day Package
New Itinerary

Price: $89 Per Person

Our exploration of historical and meaningful ships begins with a docent-guided tour of the majestic Queen Mary. We’ll go behind-the-scenes and visit parts of the ship that are normally not accessible to the public. Meanwhile, your expert guide will share stories, facts and insights about the Queen Mary that you’ve never heard. Learn about the ship's ground-breaking construction and royal launch as the most luxurious and technologically advanced ocean liner at the time, to her duty as a troopship during WWII, to her golden days of the 1950s, to her nickname, the "haunted ship." The Queen Mary's storied past is full of action, adventure, romance and ghosts – in fact it was named one of the “Top 10 Most Haunted Places in America” by Time Magazine!  Following, enjoy time at your leisure to browse the public spaces and memorabilia throughout the ship and enjoy lunch on your own at one of the Queen Mary’s eateries. This afternoon we continue to the USS Iowa, the largest U.S. battleship ever built! Nicknamed the “Battleships of Presidents,” the USS Iowa has hosted more U.S. Presidents than any other battleship in history and is the only one of her kind to serve in World War II. Designated the “World’s Greatest Naval Ship” because of her 45,000 tons, enormous guns, heavy armor, speed and modernization, the ship is now a floating museum on the L.A. Harbor. An interactive self-guided tour will allow you to experience what life was like at sea during war time. See the Captain’s Quarters, Command Center, Crew’s Galley, the Tomahawk Cruise Missile Launchers and much more. Note that due to the historic nature of these ships, not all areas are easily accessible by guests with mobility issues. Suggested: walking shoes.
