Today we are joined by professional step-on guide Curt, who is a history buff with an expertise on the evolution of Los Angeles, and is especially loved by our travelers for his charismatic personality and fun stories. Whether or not you’ve taken our original “Take a Bite Out of L.A.” tour, this “second” food-themed adventure will excite your taste buds as we explore the history, culture and cuisine of several neighborhoods of L.A. with a chance to sample their local delicacies.

In Pasadena we’ll see the early 1900s-era Arts & Crafts-period homes in Bungalow Heaven as well as the architecturally-significant CalTech, Pasadena City Hall and Castle Green. Delicate breads and pastries will be sampled at Pasadena’s top new bakery where locals line up every day to choose from more than 70 different bread varieties, gourmet pastries and their famous sea salt coffee. With its diverse mix of residents, Eagle Rock is holding onto its quirky blue-collar spirit even as it gets a facelift.

The gentrification of this northeast L.A. neighborhood is in full swing, and you’ll see the change unfolding on Colorado Boulevard, where galleries and high-end coffee shops are popping up between the dive bars and taco trucks. Here we’ll visit a family-owned bakery and café that has meticulously handed down Filipino recipes through three generations! Here we’ll try their delicious “Lumpiang Shanghai,” a bite-sized egg roll filled with ground pork and shrimp and fried to a crispy golden brown, as well as a Filipino-style sponge cake that is made with purple yam. Our journey continues to Burbank with an included lunch with choice of entrée and delicious garlic-cheese bread at the

The SmokeHouse Restaurant. Built in 1946 adjacent to Warner Bros. Studio, this legendary restaurant that is still frequented by movie stars and epitomizes the unique feel of “Old Hollywood.” In Hollywood we’ll “cruise” past many of its famous landmarks on our way to a wonderful gelato shop that boasts over 1,000 possible flavors. A sample of this unique and delicious treat will be a sweet way to end our tasty day. All visits subject to change.
