Day By Day Itinerary:
Day 1
Sunday, 3/18/2018 - Julian & Anza-Borrego
From our departure points this morning we set off for Julian to enjoy time at leisure for lunch own and browsing. This early 1900s mining town is a mountain-high retreat (elevation 4,200 ft.), known for its clean air, shopping and fresh apple pies. This afternoon we continue to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park where we’ll be joined by a local guide. This is the largest state park in California and it features 12 wilderness areas and provides an opportunity to experience the wonders of the California desert. The park features washes, palm groves, cacti, sweeping vistas and, at this time of year we may be fortunate enough to see wildflowers (note that mother nature is at work here and the rains this winter will determine what flowers there are to see). Stay alert for a possible glimpse of a roadrunner, golden eagle, kit fox, mule deer or bighorn sheep. This evening we arrive at Pala Resort Casino to take advantage of its 2,300 state-of-the-art slot machines, 87 Vegas-style table games and variety of restaurants and lounges.
Day 2
Monday, 3/19/2018 - Temecula Valley
Enjoy an included breakfast at the resort before we explore the Temecula Valley wine region, featuring almost 40 wineries producing award-winning premium wines made possible by a unique microclimate and great soils. The 1,100-foot elevation here makes for cool summer nights, and cooling breezes during the summer create perfect conditions for growing wine grapes. Learn about the history of wine-making in this region along with included wine tasting and lunch at an award-winning and elegant winery in the Valley. We’ll then enjoy time at leisure for browsing in Old Town Temecula, the quaint historic district. This afternoon we return to our drop-off points with the memories of our fabulous desert and mountain getaway not soon forgotten.
