Optional transfers from home or our departure points will have us at the Los Angeles International Airport this morning for our flight to Albany – New York’s capital city idyllically located on the Hudson River. Those passengers not taking advantage of the optional group air, should arrive at the Albany Airport by 6:00 p.m. if they want to be included on the complimentary transfer from the airport to the hotel. Onboard our deluxe motorcoach, we’ll travel the short distance to our downtown Albany hotel with dinner on your own at one of the nearby restaurants.
Day 2
Saturday, 9/29/2018 - The Berkshires
Following an included breakfast, we’ll join a local guide for a full day exploring The Berkshires, the lush and beautiful rural, mountainous region of western Massachusetts that is home to summer “cottages” of artists, actors and musicians from New York, Boston and Philadelphia. This time of year, The Berkshires are known for providing world-class foliage viewing alongside its notable art and culture. We’ll visit the Norman Rockwell Museum which features Rockwell’s original studio and the world’s largest collection of original Norman Rockwell art, including beloved paintings from The Saturday Evening Post and the Four Freedoms. We continue to The Mount to experience the beauty and splendor of Edith Wharton’s beloved country estate. This 42-room, turn-of-the-century home, designed and built by Edith Wharton in 1902 is a National Historic Landmark honoring the Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist who wrote classics such as The Age of Innocence and The House of Mirth. After time at leisure for lunch on own and browsing in the quintessential New England village of  Stockbridge, we’ll visit the Clark Art Institute with time at leisure to browse this stunning museum that is seamlessly incorporated into the landscape and features the largest collection of French Impressionism outside France. We return to the Albany region with an included dinner at a locals’ favorite.
Day 3
Sunday, 9/30/2018 - Albany to Ithaca
After an included breakfast this morning, we head south to the legendary Catskill Mountains. Here we’ll climb aboard the vintage railcars of the Delaware Ulster Railroad and enjoy an included lunch as the train travels along quiet streams, rolling hills and lush forests. While wildlife and fall foliage are a distinct possibility this time of year, nostalgia is guaranteed as our lovingly restored antique train cars bring us back to the golden age of railroading. This afternoon we continue west to New York’s Finger Lakes region. Sitting on the shores of Cayuga Lake, the largest of the Finger Lakes, is the hilly city of Ithaca and our downtown hotel. Enjoy dinner on your own at The Commons, the four-block pedestrian walkway adjacent to the hotel that features restaurants, shops and street vendors.
Day 4
Monday, 10/1/2018 - Finger Lakes
Following an included breakfast, we’ll join a local guide for a full day touring the Finger Lakes region. We’ll travel to Auburn and visit the newly-formed Harriet Tubman National Historical Park, devoted to preserving the memory of the iconic abolitionist. The Harriet Tubman Home was used by Tubman as a place where she took care of the elderly or anyone who needed a place to stay, which was fitting for the woman who lived life selflessly. We continue to the Willard Memorial Chapel – an extremely rare example of the work of Louis C. Tiffany and Tiffany Glass and Decoration Co. in that it is the only complete and unaltered Tiffany-designed religious interior known to exist in the world. We continue to Seneca Falls, the picturesque village long believed to be the inspiration for Bedford Falls – the fictional town in Frank Capra’s film, It’s a Wonderful Life. We’ll visit the Wonderful Life Museum featuring photographs, memorabilia and rare artifacts related to the film. At the National Women’s Hall of Fame we’ll explore exhibits related to over 200 distinguished women who have been inducted here since 1969. This afternoon, we’ll travel the spectacular stretch of highway between Seneca Falls and Ithaca which hugs the western shore of Cayuga Lake and is an iconic leaf-peeping drive. At Taughannock Falls State Park, we’ll see Taughannock Falls featuring a 215-foot plunge – three stories taller than Niagara Falls! Enjoy an included dinner this evening at a locals’ favorite topped off with an included ice cream sundae at the Purity Ice Cream Company, an Ithaca legend for 80 years! It’s fitting we enjoy a sundae in Ithaca – it’s where the ice cream sundae was invented 125 years ago.
Day 5
Tuesday, 10/2/2018 - Ithaca to Niagara
Following an included breakfast this morning, we’ll travel to Corning and visit the Corning Museum of Glass. With over 3,500 years of history housed in a building designed to mimic the flow of glass, this museum is home to the largest collection of art glass in the world. Travel through centuries of glassmaking, from the early core forming of the Mesopotamians, to the beautiful stained-glass windows of Louis Comfort Tiffany. Enjoy time at leisure to browse the various galleries and gift shop. Attend a Hot Glass Show and witness a molten blob transform into something exquisite and you’ll never look at glass the same way again. We continue to Le Roy, New York, birthplace of America’s favorite fruit-flavored mystery dessert. At the Jell-O Gallery Museum you’ll discover the intriguing story of Jell-O, “America’s Most Famous Dessert.” This afternoon we cross the border into Canada (passports valid for 6 months past today’s date are required) and continue to Niagara-on-the-Lake – often called the loveliest town in Ontario. Against a beautiful backdrop of Lake Ontario, this charming town features well-preserved, historic buildings that flow seamlessly with elegant shops, cafés and restaurants. We’ll experience luxury and feel like royalty during a two-night stay at The Prince of Wales Hotel – the historic Victorian-style hotel located in the heart of town.
Day 6
Wednesday, 10/3/2018 - Niagara Falls
Following an included breakfast this morning, we’ll join a local guide and embark on a comprehensive tour of the Niagara Falls area. Visit the famous Floral Clock – one of the largest in the world. We’ll then take in views of the Niagara River and Niagara Falls from a variety of viewpoints including Whirlpool State Park, Queen Victoria Park, Goat Island and the Observation Tower overlooking the falls at Prospect Point Park. The best and most exhilarating way to experience the sheer force of the falls is up-close – so, hold onto your heart and keep your eyes wide open because you’re in for the thrill of a lifetime! After donning a provided waterproof poncho and boarding a state-of-the-art, 700-passenger catamaran boat we’ll “Voyage to the Falls” for the full mist experience. Choose the indoor dry viewing option or head outside on the tiered decks for a stunning 360-degree view of Niagara Falls. This afternoon we’ll visit the Peller Estate and Winery, located in the heart of the Niagara Wine Country. Enjoy a docent-guided tour and taste several wines. We’ll even don a Peller Estates parka and head into the Icewine Lounge where we’ll sip ice wine at an ice bar surrounded by ice walls, ice furniture and ice sculptures. This evening, enjoy an included dinner at Skylon Tower in a revolving dining room offering spectacular views from 775 feet above Niagara Falls.
Day 7
Thursday, 10/4/2018 - Toronto & Farewell
Following an included breakfast, we’ll follow the shoreline of Lake Ontario to Toronto. We’ll join a local guide for a driving tour of this cosmopolitan capital city to see the Ontario Parliament Building, Sky-Dome Sports Complex the CN Tower and the historic Distillery District. Then, get your taste buds ready as we eat our way through Kensington Market featuring a tapestry of cultures, mouth-watering cuisines and uniquely independent shops.
