On this tribute to Huell Howser and his uncanny ability to uncover amazing hidden secrets in the unlikeliest of places, we'll see clips of California’s Gold and Visiting…With Huell Howser onboard, and walk in his footsteps when we visit the sights ourselves. We begin our day with a visit to “America’s First and Only Camel Dairy,” for a unique tour to meet, pet and learn about these exotic creatures. Learn about the adaptations and behavior of the camels as well as the history of this dairy and techniques borrowed from the nomads. There will be time to purchase camel milk skincare, camel hair products, camel milk chocolate and other unique items. We continue to the charming gold-mining town of Julian, nestled among oak and pine forests in the beautiful Cuyamaca Mountains (elevation 4,200 feet). The entire town is a designated historic district and the shops and restaurants are housed in Victorian-style buildings dating back to the 1870s. Enjoy approximately three hours at leisure to browse the unique boutiques, have lunch on your own and taste their fresh apple pie and cider. You may also choose to visit the annual Julian Wildflower Show, an historical event that has been taking place at the Town Hall each May for over 95 years!
